  • For a lot of hardwork done over the summer, big bossman gave me and my co-worker $150.00 in gift certificates at Canadian Tire.  Instead of buying something practical I actually splurged and bought myself a digital camera.  I likes my new toy, though the cats do not.  Pictures to come ;)
  • I'm really craving sushi right now.  Lots of sushi.  With enough wasabi to clear out my sinuses.  Oooo and a spicy shrimp roll.  *okay am stopping now because this is very cruel to my appetite*
  • Neville is proving to be quite difficult to write at the moment - damn his conscience.  I wish he'd be a good little wizard and enjoy the smut that I am writing him in.
  • Completed map of Hogsmeade for [info]darkesthour_rpg and found an excellent source for Diagon Alley, Godric's Hollow and Ottery St. Catchpoole.  It's a good thing I love making maps.  Other details are coming along quite nicely - hopefully can start sending out notices by the end of October.
  • I am really enjoying all of these "20 Random Facts of..." that are popping up all over the place.  I'm very fond of character exploration and wonder if I should do one...
  • My Ravenclaw circa film 3 scarf is progressing rather fast.  Wish I had circular knitting needles but hindsight is 20/20.  Will most likely fold it in half and stitch it.  I'm pretty sure it will still be wide enough for practical use.  I need to get more yarn to complete my Gryffindor afghan.
  • The husband and I have been catching Spaced on the Showcase channel on Sunday nights.  I am really, really starting to have a crush on Simon Pegg I think.  Plus, Nick Frost in a pink spandex top and porn 'stach is...interesting.

    Mini Rant

Lately I've been feeling like I need to put a big, blinking banner on my blogs to say "I like Het, and I'm proud of it!"

I'm rather open to a lot of kinks and don't like to limit myself overmuch. However, lately it seems as if one has to be apologetic for enjoying het pairings, which in itself seems odd. Why apologize for something you enjoy? Why on earth is it seen to be a flaw?

I can't fathom having to reason why you like het anymore than why you like slash. I like cock and cunt equally.

And that's my two cents on it.

    Need Quick Layout Advice

Ok F-list, Bella here needs some help with her layout(s).

I need to know which style to use that allows for a header image, but has more options on the sidebar? The "Quite Lickable" style is too plain for me and I'm tired of having to scroll back up to the link to go "Previous 50" as well as I want to have a list of my tags on the sidebar too.

If anyone can steer me into the right direction or say "Use this one you silly arse" it would be greatly appreciated :)

    *Yawns and Rubs Eyes*

Today is the first day of the first weekend I've had off in a month from work. I've lost count in how many overtime hours I put in, but it was a lot.

That being said, I didn't get finished my fic for today's Bring Back The Porn fest, which makes me rather sad because I really wanted to get it up for people to read. Alas, my participation will only have to result in my reading the excellent fic that has been posted thus far. I'll try to get around to as much of it as I can this weekend, in between working on more details for the HP RPG Darkest Hour which myself and my husband will be running come December.

So much to do, always so little time. Whatever fic I read this weekend, you authors can be assured I will provide feedback - I always do, even if it's a simple OMG *squee* so HAWT type comment ;)

I hope everyone is having fun! *hugs flist*

    Bring Back the Porn

I was hoping to get my voyeur!Draco/Penelope fic done for September 1st, but a very bossy plot bunny has put it on the back burner. Almost 5000 words later and I'm 3/4 of the way through a Neville/Hermione comfort fic that's post DH. I'm very pleased with how it's turning out and it will be the first installment to other chapters surrounding Neville "I Win at Awesomeness" Longbottom.

    *squees and dances*

In other news, I really don't want to go to work *whinges*

    Husbands *sigh*

After almost 2 months of nagging, he has finally relented and is shaving off the beard.

*blows a party favour and throws confetti*

Honestly, you would think it was like I was asking him to amputate...something. *wry grin*

    Setting Up a Post-DH RPG

It's tedious, time consuming and thrilling all at the same time and by the gods I'm determined to get this game going. Hopefully by as early as before the American Thanksgiving we can start the invitation beta.

Now the question is do we host this on Greatestjournal, or Insanejournal?

Given the GJ nonsense of late regarding userpics, I'm not sure if GJ will be the way to go. However, the user pics aren't a big problem because in my opinion 100 user pics for a RPG journal is plenty. I never really got the idea behind needing a snot ton of user pics for a character - they're helpful, but it's the writing that makes a good text-based RPG.

And frankly, I love IJ thus far and would prefer to bring more people onto IJ. But then, I'm nervous about capacity and downtimes, though I know [info]squeaky has been awesome about keeping us in the loop about all that, and the fact that he has claimed he will not remove anything from the site unless served with a court order.

    Decisions, decisions....

Oh, and [info]hp_rarepairs has surpassed 100 members! *claps loudly* The posting of fic is still sporadic and we haven't had any artists post yet, and there are still several outstanding invitations but I'm so happy with how many members the community has gained thus far.

And I'm proud of all the fandom communities already out there that are thriving *claps loudly for them as well*

    Now...back to my ice cream.

(on a side note, I think I'm getting an ear infection and it's pissing me the hell off *grrrrrr)

    I'm whipped...

...and not in the slightest bit of the good way either.

It's becoming darker at night sooner and there's a promise of autumn in the air.  Soon I will have to go driving in the countryside for apples, which always taste better and sweeter straight from the orchard stand, eating while driving along country roads lined with flame coloured trees.

I can't wait for summer to be over.

    Writing

The problem I've always had with writing fic is actually completing it.  I get so far and then I stagnate and I don't know if it's because I get bored, or it's because inevitably there's always 2 more plot bunnies that come hopping by and distract me from my original task.

I've got a Draco fic in the works and so far I've got 1969 words and it's only gotten to the PG rating at the most.  As it is, I don't know how I should continue it - or rather, I DO know where I want it to continue but not sure if I'm on the right track...

    *grumbles*

I never have this problem in my RPGs - normally you can't shut me up.

ETA: I just finished ordering Season 1 of Supernatural, which was 67% off at Amazon.com as well as a copy of Hot Fuzz. I love Simon Pegg. I want to put him in my pocket :D

Did my good deed for the day

The husband and I went to Staples Business Depot after work today so he could pick up a digital voice recorder (he likes to get ideas out of his head and he tends to freeze up when trying to type them out).  At the cashier counter they were promoting a fundraiser.  The fundraiser was that you could buy these prepackaged school kits for kids who came from homes that can't afford new school supplies.  For one kit, it was less than $5.00.

I remember what it was like growing up being raised by a single mother - when dinner was only a box of Kraft macaroni & cheese for all three of us.  Never going into the cafeteria in highschool so no one could see that I didn't have a lunch.  I know what it's like to ask the teacher for a pen or pencil, and carrying around a battered binder because it was the only one you had at the time.  My husband remembers what it was like too.

So, of course we bought one.  And we put in in the bin, and I'm very glad to say that it was a large bin that was more than half full of these kits.

It's those moments that you realize that despite all the bullshit, wank and crap going on in fandom or RL there IS good going on, which will make you smile at the most unexpected moments.

    Mini-Wheats, wheats, wheats...

I've got this commercial stuck in my head and I happened to have found it on youtube.  I figure if I have to suffer, I'm bringing everyone with me ;) Mini-wheats, wheats, wheats

Why Does This Feel Like Tuesday?

Everyone seems to think that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day. Me, I'm inclined to think that Monday the 13th is a much more worse punishment the universe can dole out.

Right now I'm suffering from menstrual craps of d00m. I'm surprised they let me out of my cage and into the general populace today.

Today the husband and I found out some awesome news from Immigration and he'll be able to start finding work after September 5th! After 2 years his patience is finally paying off.

I've started writing a Draco/Penelope; Draco/implied Bellatrix dark fic. I may even finish this one. Anyone interested in being a beta for it? *bats eyelashes prettily*

    Randomness

I've concluded that wilted lettuce is the most disgusting thing in the world as far as texture goes. Even above the grainy, squelchyness of beef liver.

    Insane Journal

So far, I'm really enjoying my new home.

[info]hp_rarepairs is really starting to gain momentum, which makes me very pleased.

Now I need to buckle down and start writing again.

    Aug. 8th, 2007

    I've said it once...

    ...and I'll say it again:

I hate cleaning out those damn litterboxes.

    Blech.
