Current music:Easy Listening for the over 40's
Entry tags:cats, darkest hour, digital camera, gryffindor, knitting, neville, ravenclaw, scarf, simon pegg, smut, sushi, writing

  • For a lot of hardwork done over the summer, big bossman gave me and my co-worker $150.00 in gift certificates at Canadian Tire.  Instead of buying something practical I actually splurged and bought myself a digital camera.  I likes my new toy, though the cats do not.  Pictures to come ;)
  • I'm really craving sushi right now.  Lots of sushi.  With enough wasabi to clear out my sinuses.  Oooo and a spicy shrimp roll.  *okay am stopping now because this is very cruel to my appetite*
  • Neville is proving to be quite difficult to write at the moment - damn his conscience.  I wish he'd be a good little wizard and enjoy the smut that I am writing him in.
  • Completed map of Hogsmeade for [info]darkesthour_rpg and found an excellent source for Diagon Alley, Godric's Hollow and Ottery St. Catchpoole.  It's a good thing I love making maps.  Other details are coming along quite nicely - hopefully can start sending out notices by the end of October.
  • I am really enjoying all of these "20 Random Facts of..." that are popping up all over the place.  I'm very fond of character exploration and wonder if I should do one...
  • My Ravenclaw circa film 3 scarf is progressing rather fast.  Wish I had circular knitting needles but hindsight is 20/20.  Will most likely fold it in half and stitch it.  I'm pretty sure it will still be wide enough for practical use.  I need to get more yarn to complete my Gryffindor afghan.
  • The husband and I have been catching Spaced on the Showcase channel on Sunday nights.  I am really, really starting to have a crush on Simon Pegg I think.  Plus, Nick Frost in a pink spandex top and porn 'stach is...interesting.

Isn't Spaced hilarious! There are so many layers to that show -- I've seen it a few times and every time I laugh at something different. And I kinda want to be Marsha.

It is! The first time I caught it, all I did was say "oh it's him!" every few minutes because there are so many people in that series. I really would like to get it on DVD, but it can only be bought Region 2 and we don't have a multiregion DVD player (right now I can hear my husband muttering "yet").

    :P

Go here and see if you can find the code to change your DVD player to Region 0. I did it with mine not too long ago, right in time for the big DVD sale at amazon.co.uk. Works like a dream!

*snogs you* Can I just say that you are full of awesomeness? I had no idea that this could be done. I just hacked my Philips DVP642 to regional 0.

Now I wish I had some other region DVD's to try it out on! LOL

Excellent! Yeah, I'd heard ages ago that you could do something like this, but it all sounded far too technical for me to mess with. When someone finally sat me down and told me exactly what to do, it was unbelievably easy.

Now you'll just have to order this. And if you haven't seen it, might I also recommend this?

I did in fact order Spaced and got an email two days ago that it's on its way *does happy dance*

Am very curious about the other one - haven't heard of it. Any reviews on your part?

Also, found Nigella Lawson's latest book on amazon.uk and am so very tempted to buy it, but I know I must be a good girl and concentrate on paying some bills first. *smites bills*

Black Books is an absolutely hysterical series about a bookstore owner, Bernard Black, who's a total misanthrope -- he despises his customers who he thinks are just there to keep him from enjoying his peace and quiet and booze. It's got a similar surreal humour as Spaced and stars Dylan Moran (who plays David in Shaun of the Dead and Bill Bailey (who's in Spaced and Hot Fuzz).

You know, I have the episodes in avi format (I had to have something to watch until the DVDs come out in Canada, which is supposed to be soon!) if you'd like me to upload them.

My friend went to a wedding where the couple registered at Canadian Tire. I thought that was the coolest.

C!rap is in love with CT. He would be green with envy over your gift certificate. *giggles and congratulations*

That's actually a really good idea - there's tons of stuff a newly married couple can get from CT and there are things that you don't even think of - it's so easy to forget about essentials like a dishrack or tea towels when you're concentrating on dish patterns ;)

When I first opened the envelope it really caught me off guard, but then I remembered you can buy lots more than just...tires and oil *snickers* Thanks!

Ahhhh that Neville and his iron-clad conscience... just want him to get his kit off already! *grabby hands*

Gah... I really should be finishing Ray's afghan instead of goofing around on here but.... meh.

    *hugs*

    Oh goof already! :P

Seducing Neville isn't easy - but well worth the wait, I'm thinking.
