Mini Rant
Lately I've been feeling like I need to put a big, blinking banner on my blogs to say "I like Het, and I'm proud of it!"

I'm rather open to a lot of kinks and don't like to limit myself overmuch. However, lately it seems as if one has to be apologetic for enjoying het pairings, which in itself seems odd. Why apologize for something you enjoy? Why on earth is it seen to be a flaw?

I can't fathom having to reason why you like het anymore than why you like slash. I like cock and cunt equally.

And that's my two cents on it.

Amen, sister!

Seriously, what's up with the stigma around het? I'm all about equal opportunity, especially when it comes to sex. ;)

Oh yes :D I'm a writer and reader of both, and if either of them involves Neville or Charlie I'm even happier.

I like het!

I'm a bisexual woman who strongly prefers the ladies and I still prefer het!

I don't generally read (m/m) slash unless it's by someone I know and trust. Or if it's Weasleycest, then it might get a go. *grins*

Funny you should say that -- I've felt like that a lot lately. Tonight, I've been feeling like there's something wrong and defective with me for enjoying romance, for enjoying het, for liking female characters, for wanting there to be a story with female leads of equal or near-equal importance to the males, for having crucial roles... and I don't think that makes them a mary sue.

And right now, due to something that was said, I'm finding myself afraid to write or roleplay, afraid of being mediocre and dull and marysueish and a bad writer and a lousy gamer.

I was actually thinking earlier that I wish I liked more slash pairings than I do and that I liked writing it more, because to hear slash fans talk, they don't do any of that stupid romance bullshit or mary sue female characters or any of that, because they don't touch het, and therefore are better writers for it. That really feels sometimes like it's the view a lot of people have and take.

... of course, living so close to Galveston and the hurricane making landfall tonight isn't helping either. My mood can be thrown on the fritz by weird weather.

I'm bi, involved with both a man and a woman, and I like het, goddamnit. I like seeing both bits I enjoy playing with getting equal screen time. I'm tired of feeling like this.

Never apologize for who you are, how you play or how you write.

Life is too short for that sweetie. *hugs*

Let's hear it for Het!! Especially the loud, wet, noisy kind! And lots of orgasms! Oh, there's a lot of good slash around, especially femmeslash. And when I'm in the mood for it, I much prefer to write my characters as bi, rather than strictly slash or het.

I'm bi in RL, and bi in my reading/writing habits. Bring on the het! It coexists quite cosily with the m/m slash and femmeslash.

Sharin' the het love too!

I'm pretty much slash!lite I don't go looking for it, but if I stumble across something...I'll give it a go. I'm particular to Ron/Draco. Anything to get him away from Hermione. *snort*

Boy am I late to weigh in on this, but there's only so much slash I can endure. It's good in doses and if it's written well...hells yeah! *coughweasleycestcough*

But I needs my het, badly... especially anything involving the Twins (duh) and Nev ;) Nev's my happy place :D But you knew that already ;)

*eyeroll* Don't listen to idiots that tell you het isn't something a fandom person should like. You like het, you like het, no big whoop. You like slash, great - no big whoop. You like femmeslash, again, no big whoop. People need to get over themselves and deal with the fact that we're not all the same. I read het. I've even written het, though none was explicit. I read damn near anything that looks interesting. Even gen, where there is no sex whatsoever. *g*

Oh I totally agree. Anyone who knows me in RL knows that I never let anyone or anything get in my way of enjoying something - I just found it more quizzical of where this "slash good, het bad" mentality came from.

And agreed again on gen - I've read some of the cutest gen that has made me more wibbly than anything hardcore.

I know how you feel, I sometimes feel that way myself. I like het and slash too.

I have no idea why or when feeling that way about het fic happened either. But I just ignore it, and write what I want, het, slash or gen fic.

Lol, I guess it's a bit late for me to say WORD, huh? :P I just don't get the het-hate, I guess. It makes little to no sense to me, especially since slash should be more "love who and what you want" and less judgmental. Erm, yeah.

It's never too late - especially in this journal. I want to know everyone's opinions on a subject, especially something as mind-boggling to me as this.
