Need Quick Layout Advice
Ok F-list, Bella here needs some help with her layout(s).

I need to know which style to use that allows for a header image, but has more options on the sidebar? The "Quite Lickable" style is too plain for me and I'm tired of having to scroll back up to the link to go "Previous 50" as well as I want to have a list of my tags on the sidebar too.

If anyone can steer me into the right direction or say "Use this one you silly arse" it would be greatly appreciated :)

I think Bloggish is currently the only layout that lets you have a taglist on the sidebar, but I do not know if it allows for header images.

You have a few options. The easy one is to choose Bloggish and add the header via css.

If you have a paid/perm account you can add either flexible squares or smooth sailing code by adding them as a new core layer. If you don't have that much experience with customising, Bloggish is rather a bit easier to deal with.

Well I've got a free insane account for starters (haven't switched to paid yet). Looks like Bloggish may be my best option, but CSS? I must be doing something wrong because ever CSS Header code I've found via google just ain't workin' for me.

Where do you put it, and what have you written in it? Also, which Bloggish design have you chosen?

Well I used this coding:

#banner{
background: #000000 url(http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z7/bellatonks/xfoolforyouxkatheader.png) no-repeat top center;
padding-top:300px;
}

which now seems to work and I pasted it in the CSS field in customization. It seems to be working, but now I've got to figure out how to change all my colours. I anticipate I'll need more coding to do that for every section ie: links module, calendar module etc.

I'm such a n00b at all of this coding schtuff *face palm*

Good! CSS is not that bad, and easy enough, patience and fiddling with it usually gets you the needed result sooner or later. ;0)

I was like a toddler with an empty cardboard box playing with those codes last night. Again, thanks for the tip - it opened a whole new world for me. I can catch on pretty quick if given the chance to play :D

*seconds this*

I have to say that I was so ridiculous thrilled when I found where someone posted the coding for the smooth sailing for a layer. I'm not that skilled with the layouts but god i'm addicted to my Smooth Sailing.

But yes- for a free account Bloggish does have a good amount of simpler customization.

Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one who was all *squee* about figuring out some of this layer, CSS muck. I swear, put a new toy in front of me and I'm happy for hours.

I like Quite Lickable, but that deal with scrolling back up to see the previous comments does get annoying. There's probably a way to customize that, but I haven't been bothered enough to fiddle with it.

Yeah, I finally threw in the towel last night and got fed up with having to constantly scroll back up just to go back 50 pages. I like the style, but that part of that style just had to go :P
